I was under the impression that a dr would give me better traction than a street tire even without heating them up... is this not true? I've never owned a set so i only know what i've heard.

I know if i heat them up they will stick much better, but if they don't stick better than a good street tire, without heating them up, then it's not worth it to me.

I only go to the track twice a year, and while i want better 60 ft. times, my major concern is traction on the street, and a good tread life.

I run Toyo R888's on my Summer wheels and are just fine. Fink is correct that they need to heat up, but does not take long on the street. I just drove extra careful for the first 10 minutes or so and THEN they stick like glue

You do NOT want them in freezing weather and not so great in heavy rain, so keep that in mind.

PS This statement doesn't really make sense to me. One of these is going to have to give, sorry

Well i went ahead and bought a set of 315 Nitto 555R's today, so i guess i'll know soon enough.

I met a guy today who had a set of these on an 04 gt, and talked to the guy, and from what he had to say... it just sold me!

We also parked our cars next to each other, and i couldn't see any noticable difference in width. I actually thought the nitto looked alot better than the sumitomo as well.

This will be my first drag radial! It will be nice to actually hook with some of my N2O power now...lol.

Well i just had my 315 Nitto dr's put on today, and these things grip way better than the Sumitomo's. They also are just as quiet as the Sumis.

As far as width is concerned...i had a chance to put the Sumis & Nittos next to each other, and i honestly could not see a difference...which is a good thing to me.

Did any of you follow a specific break in procedure?

Either way it's going to be nice to finally hook up some of this power now.
