What's the biggest tire I can put in front?
Hi All. I am not new to this forum but I am to this board. I have been on the S197 board for my 06. But yesterday I finally, after wanting one for many years, got a Fox Body 5.0.
I just bought my 88 GT yesterday. It is a low mileage, un modded car. So I got a clean canvas to work with and really looking forward to it. Its a 5 speed and I want to make it a handling canyon carver. First thing I am doing is getting from American Muscle a lowering spring kit with caster/camber plates. its going to drop the car 1.5 inches. I need new tires and I have the stock GT factory wheels on it. Right now it has 225/60/16 on the front and 255/60/16 on the rear. I would love to put the rear size on the front too but I wonder if that will not work with the drop. What is the biggest tire I can fit on the front and if I should keep that rear size on the rear?
Thanks for your time,
Matt

First of all, great looking fox; I love it!
Second of all, concerning tires, you can definitely fit the 255 but there is a great chance that (especially after lowering) you will rub when turning. Most people do not worry about this as it is mostly at full lock but it is definitely troublesome to others!
I would recommend running a square setup of 245's which will drastically minimize your chance of rubbing.
Hope this helps!
