Has Steve McQueen's 'Bullitt' Mustang Been Found?

No One Knows the Actual Whereabouts of the Two Mustangs Used in ‘Bullitt.’ But a Man in Mexico Claims He’s Found One

Not much is known about the two Mustang GTs that were used during the filming of Bullitt. The world-famous car chase scene has been a favorite of ours for decades. And McQueen himself at one point tried to purchase at least one of the Mustangs used in the film. However, the Mustangs in question seem to have disappeared forever. Till now, perhaps.

One man in Mexico claims one of the missing ‘Stangs has been found. And he can prove it with a VIN, along with some unique modifications made to the car.

Mustang enthusiast Fede Garza claims to have found the car in Mexico, where it was to be turned into an Eleanor clone. Garza says the VIN matches one of the Mustangs used in Bullitt, and it has some key changes that point to it being a cinema car.

The rear end had been upgraded to a Ford 9-inch final drive, and shock tower reinforcement was also in place. Considering the beating it would take during filming, these both point towards it being the real-deal. Unusual holes in the fender wells also might be another clue, but their use is yet to be identified.

However, the VIN stamping looks a little suspect, and it has been decades since anyone last saw the originals.

Take a look at the pictures below and tell us if you think it’s a real Bullitt Mustang.
