Whats recommended and what is reality are 2 different things on these engines. To have that much clearance without a piston notch with the PI head your cams must be installed at like 114+ intake centerlines which is a very late opening point. The stock cams barely give 0.080" once they are advanced to a proper intake centerline.

Well if you still have lifter noise and you know you have clearance pull the valve cover and see if any of the tops of the valves are not in line with the others. I have found valves bent at the top as well on these engines.

I will take them off, but the noise has been there since the build was done..It was louder when we first started the car but it did some what get quieter with time..Also if I had a bent valve after two or three trips to the drag strip. I believe I would know by now.. Because I drive it pretty hard at the track..Its basically a weekend car to have fun in. MPH in GA did all my tuning and said my cams are right on.

Are your cams degreed in and if so what is the intake centerline?

Another thing is the valve stem height as these engines are very sensitive to it. I keep a narrow plus 0.015" minus 0.010" max spec on my heads as going outside of this not only changes the rocker ratio slightly it can make a noisy valve train. Whoever did your heads should be able to tell you what specs they use.

No tick at all going down the road only first crank up til oil pressure builds up good and at idle.
Thanks
mine does the same thing.

We replaced all the timing set and adjusters,etc..Because we used my old stuff when we did the head swap...I figured it wouldnt hurt to put new stuff in there..I should have done that in the first place.lol..

How many miles on your car z06 Saleen?
