Default impeller carnage

Ill start at the beginning, i put a fuel pump in my car the other day becuase the other one wasnt supplieng enough while it was being tuned. The car would not even rev past like 4k, so the tuner set it really rich and told me to come back when its fixed. Anyway, when i got the new pump in i gave it a couple revs, it revved perfect, so i held it at about 3500 to see what it did, and a nice knock started up. I shut the motor down before i did anymore damage. So today I was taking it apart and when i took the discharge off the blower(s-trim) the nut was off of the impeller, and the blades on the impeller were destroyed!! Ill have pics up tomorrow. Anyway, i guess some of the pieces that sheared off clogged my oil up, and screwed me big time. So, what would cause the nut to back off of the impeller? Sorry for the long post, just trying to be descriptive.

That's another reason I like th self contained Procharger. It isolates the engine in the case of a failure like that.

But anyway, that sucks. You have a nice car and nice setup too. Let's start with the basics I suppose... How long ago was it rebuilt? (as far as both time and miles.) I've never seen anything like that happen. if it was just recently rebuilt, then I imagine someone had to have screwed something up and not put everything back together correctly.

Did the nut actually back-off or did it break / snap somehow?

No, the nut literally backed off! It was tight when i put it on, I didnt exactly check the tq on it, but it damn sure was not loose! The only thing I could figure is maybe my by pass wasnt working, and put some sort of wierd strain on the impellar? When the nut fell out of the pipe i was like WTF!!!! I dont know eactly how many miles are on the rebuild, he estimated around 3k, so IDK?!??!
