There was two intakes, late 95-early 97 and 97-later. The early explorer intake has thicker flanges on the upper, has egr provisions for emissions, and has a boss in the #5 runner for the ACT, which will need to be drilled and tapped to a 3/8 NPT. Now the later explorer intake has thinner flanges on the upper, NO egr provisions, and doesn't have a boss in the #5 runner, you can tapp it, but there is less material to thread the sensor. Also, you'll need a elbow adapter for the upper.

so both will have to get tapped? (from 5/16" to 3/8") through the upper and on the lower? are these the same as the cobra intakes and will they match up to gt40/p heads with the same fabrications?
