Default 4 Lug Wheel Help

Just got my first mustang....a 1964 1/2 Mustang Coupe. I have always been a huge fan of the classic mustang, but dont know a whole lot about them. A little help would be appreciated.

I want to get some new tires and wheels and I am having a hard time finding some good 4 lug wheels. I found plenty of good 5 lug wheels. What are my options?

Could buy wheel adapters for it that convert to 5 lug or even fox body 4 lug. American racing Outlaw IIs are mustang 4 lug. Datsun rims are mustang 4 lug.

On my 67 I used wheel adapters to fox body 4 lug and ran pony rims on it. Had to roll my fenders too.

Or, 5 lug swap. That way if you ever want to go with a v8 you already have the right setup. And, 5 lug front disc brakes are MUCH cheaper than 4 lug front disc's.

I have always thought the 4 to 5 lug conversion kits where an Urban Legend. I couldn't find them 30 years ago with my first Mustang or a few years ago when I got this one.
Choices are few and far between. I went with the Outlaw II's. CJ's has these and I think one other type in stock.

Yeah, the only way to put 5-bolt wheels on the back of a 4-bolt Mustang is to use adapters (bad idea) or have the axles machined to accept 5-bolt wheels (expensive idea) or change to a V8 axle (a real pain).

There are a number of aluminum wheels, check the link I posted above for a couple of them.

Don't know if you are interested in this style rim, but I used 4 lug wheel adapters to convert my 67 to 4x4.25 bolt pattern. I ran fox body pony rims on it. Here is a picture.
