Default Spindle Identification (I6 to v8 swap)

I'm meeting a guy with what is supposed to be quite a pile of parts on Friday. I have a 66 I6 and I'm curious if there is an easy way to ID v8 spindles if I run across a set. If I understand correctly I will also need the tie rod ends, pitman arm, and drag link to complete a swap.

I've also read about using 67 and up spindles as long as you have the correct tie rod ends. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!
Scott

chockostang could give you a list of casting number for the spindles.I do know 67 they only made one spindle so you could get a inline 6 one and change it over to 5 lug and disc easy.I have 70-73 spindles on my 68 i just had to change the tie rod end to.I believe you gotta change all your steering linkage because i6 stuff was weaker then the v8 parts.

Look for the 65 66 V8 Spindles C4ZA or C5DA. 3108 Driver, 3107 Passenger.

Also the 67-69 C6OA Spindles, same numbers for left/right.

The Disc brake 68/69 C8OA, 70 DoZA, 71-73 D1ZA.

Stay away from the Spindles starting with a D as the first character, these will be Granada.

good answer.
would not hurt to verify the tie rod sockets are not wallowed out.
anyone have tie rod socket diameters handy?
suppose you could bring correct tie rod end w/ you to make sure they fit tight.
