I think whoever I bought the car from installed a 1965-1966 Thompson power steering pump! The cap should have a measuring stick but unfortunately it doesnt!
Can I replace the leaking pump I have with the correct 1967 pump with no problems?
Also can I drive the car until this issue is fixed? Or should I drain it and add ATF??

The small-neck 67-69 pump is often used as an auto parts store replacement for the large neck 65-66. Not the best fit on the rear stud in some cases, though. If you have a 67 pump bracket, you're better off getting the 67-69 style pump. Be careful, the rear fittings, especially the return hose tube varied quite a bit, and the parts store could easily give you one that pointed exactly the wrong way.
As for the 65-66 not having a dipstick, they usually didn't. The standard pump had a large tube sticing straight out the top, with the fluid clearly visible. Ford declined to include an extra 3¢ for a dipstick. AC pumps, with the neck angled toward the rear, did receive a dipstick. In 67, all got a smaller neck, and all were angled to clear the AC compressor.

To save myself the trouble I am going to replace the 65-66 pump I have now with the same style. However, since its leaking now how do I check the fluid level? Does it have to be to the top of the neck?
The neck I have is tilted to the back to clear the ac but I dont have ac installed in my car. So how do I know how much fluid it needs or not?
Thank you

Don't fill to top,. You'll have a hell of a mess on your hands.
Buy a Slanted Neck Big tube Dip Stick.
If you can't find them, We have them.
