73 Mustang 4 speed question...
I just picked up a 4 gear for my 73 Mustang. Popped open the top cover, looks damn near brand new on the inside. No signs of any real wear. Only issue is, it's an SROD... manual transmissions for RWD cars are hard to come by in upper Michigan, so I'm wondering what I could do to beef the trans up. Bearings? Some sort of case strengthening? What's the weak point of these transmissions?
It came outta a '79 Foxbody with a 302. It's going behind a mild 302 (approximately 250-300hp).

they are fairly weak iirc...personally id get a t5 over a SROD....you can even run a 4 banger t5(they are a little weaker than a v8 t5) youd need an adapter pilot bearing to run the 4banger t5 and a v8 bell housing to get it in...
