Top down heat on full blast and top down A/C on full blast. Living in MI I've done em both.

The problem of using the A/C "ever" though is, it does rob a lot of horsepower in it's operation.. & I'd rather have more available power instead of being just a "slight bit cooler" on a hot day with the top downlol
even though this post is old i will make a comment.

the a/c cuts off at WOT so there is really no power loss.

to the other post about it working harder with the top down, the a/c will only try to circulate air in the cabin when its on Max a/c. so if you're concerned don't put it on max.

here in texas the a/c blows year round, top up or down

I would think it would only try to recirculate the air if its on max a/c or the recirculate button is pushed in.
