‘Deadpool Mustang’ is the Quarter-mile Superhero We Deserve

By -

What’s better than chimichangas? For our money, a tasty red Mustang notch.

Who’s everyone’s favorite raunchy superhero? Naturally, it’s the “merc’ with a mouth,” Marvel’s very own Deadpool himself. So what would Deadpool drive?

We’re thinking that the clean Fox-body Mustang seen in this video by YouTuber Jmalcom2004 looks like a compelling option. After all, it’s painted up in his signature red-with-black-trim motif.

Deadpool-inspired, LS-powered

The car looks great. Few things look as clean as a well-built Fox notchback. Just like its namesake, though, there’s more than a few things that just seem, well, off about it.

For one, it’s got sinister glowing red headlights. That’s more supervillain than superhero. It sounds way off, too. That’s because it’s Chevy-powered.

Lighting up the strip at Middle Georgia Motorsports Park, we hear the trademark burble of a mean bowtie powerplant under the hood. We’ve been seeing an awful lot of Chevy-powered Mustang drag cars lately, and we’re not sure what to make of it.

The beginning of the video shows an aborted pass from two angles that nearly result in contact with the wall when it gets more than a bit sideways. Thankfully the driver was able to shut it down and avoid a crash. No reason for this fast pony car’s pretty face to end up as messed up as Deadpool’s.

The video description has no detail on the engine specs, and the video cuts off just before we see what sort of times this monster is capable of. One thing is clear, though: it’s fast.

What we can clearly see (and hear) is the nitrous purge underneath the tall cowl hood before the fun starts. Listening carefully, we can’t hear the whine of any other power adders. With any luck, we’ll see more of the Deadpool Mustang around the internet, with more details about what’s powering it.
