Not too much to be confused about. If you pull your right side windshield pillar cover off and hook to the wire you want to use (on with doors or on with lights) then you are good to go. You still have to ground the second wire so make sure you use a good ground source. Other than putting back on the cover, you are done.

Stop reading after you get to the pics of the pillar wires and then hook your wire there and ground the other one. Simple. Remember, LED's go only one way with power. If you don't get power, reverse the wires. (try them on a 9v battery and you can see how the work and don't work). Good luck.

The dome light wires are located in the pass side windshield pillar.
Pull the pass side door sill.
Pull the pass side kick panel.

The wires running up to the pillar will
contain a BLACK/LITE BLUE tracer wire.
This is hot, or has 12VDC on it ALL THE TIME.

Pick up ground ON THE LiteGreen/Yellow tracer wire.
This is switched ground by the SJB to control the lights.

No wonder you were lost... So was I...
Blind leading the blind... Well I have seen the light...

The manual switches overhead for the lights also supply
ground to the lights effectively by-passing the SJB.
The SJB sinks instead of sourcing the load. Or in other words,
grounds the load to make it work. Most systems on the S197
are like that and I failed to notice that for the overhead lights.

example:
Remove your headlights switch and the headlights come ON
because the headlight switch requests them to be off instead
of requesting them to be on. If the headlight switch goes bad
the headlights fail-safe into the ON mode. Go figure...
The diagram in the URL below spells it all out for the technically
inclined.

This posts actually shows the LiteGreen/Yellow tracer wire...

So I've only got 7v going thru across the green/yellow. But I've had LEDs in the overhead lights, could that be the culprit? And how can I fix it? Maybe add a resister after the overhead lights? I'm a little lost
