Default Painting Calipers

How easy is painting the calipers? Does it take a while? Will the cheap caliper paint from autozone work? If someone could walk me through this process step-by-step, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of painting them red.

I did mine a few weeks ago with the kit from Autozone. Read this thread

Check out the link above...thanks to gkosin for the details

The autozone stuff seems to work fine, there might be a better brand out there but don't know of it...it's possible to paint the calipers without taking anything apart (except taking the wheels off of course) but it just depends on how detailed you want to get. The kit I used came with cleaner/paint/brush...might want to get some fine sandpaper/steel wool to knock any rust/dirt off the calipers before cleaning and painting...just remember to put several layers of the paint on, a light coating will definitely flake/peel. The whole process took me about 1 hr, but I was moving FAST and in a major hurry trying to make a dinner date that evening.

hope this helps

oops gkosin was faster! [&:]

I wouldn't waste the time with the cheap spray on stuff. If you want to paint your calipers, use the good stuff like G2 caliper paint. It's very thick and looks like it has a plastic coating or something. It's like $50 for the kit but worth it. -Joe

I just bought the kit from Autozone. I'm going to give it a try after I get my new wheels. I used the more expensive brand that Eastwood sells for $40 on my 03 Monte Carlo and it holds up real well. I never really drove the car in the winter/salt after I painting them though.
