Maybe its the ballasts? When I turn my fog lights on, they sometimes flicker for a second then start heating up. Sometimes the left one doesn't even light up and I have to turn the fog lights off, wait a few seconds, then turn them on and then they both light up.

Best HID conversion kit going is the ones from RetroSolutions. I've had one for like 3 yrs. with zero issues. If your headlights have the little black caps over the end of the bulbs you're golden, just get a kit. I have the 4000K, Hi/Lo, 35W kit and I love it. Lifetime warranty too. If you don't have those little caps over the end of you're bulbs, you need to get the optional coating over the end of the HID bulbs so you don't blind on coming traffic.

I find just lowering the angle of the lights will work against blinding people, the way HIDs glow and crawl you will still have awesome illumination properties

To the question. I'm not an electrical person but it sounds like maybe the alternator can't keep up with its demands.
HIDs draw LESS current than the OEM bulbs...

lol old thread is old...... it's your ballasts bro. Most cheap HID's do this. I rock the stock bulbs until I can afford to do it right with projectors, etc.

I have the same HID setup from "eBay" 4300k for 3 years going threw 3 stands lmao, and I had one problem, my ground wire on the harnest went, that little wire must have gotten toast some how..you wanna always knock out the rule of thumb, start with connections , bulbs , ballast..I found out it was my ground wire it wasn't grounding properly so there for my HID was flickering then one light shut off, so I automatically thought it was. The bulb or ballast, but it wasn't lol damn wire..so I would check the all the connections before replacing anything..but deff check that..

Nope, the ballasts are current limiting devices.
Maybe cheapo ballasts, but not the good ones.
