Yep, they did the same thing to me--Today! I asked them why it was going to take so long to replace the fuel pump and the guy told me they had to remove the driveshaft, remove the exhaust, and drop the tank. They even told me to bring it in as close to empty as possible. I asked him about just pulling the back seat to get to the fuel pump and he said, "Everyone I asked about it said this is the way to do it." Whatever, it was a warranty repair so, their dime, eh.
