Here's the one about ehaust noise. I'm sure kaldars wouldn't pass the sound test, but it's only a traffic infraction. Removing the cats is a misdemeanor though.

Do you have cats? I was talking about kaldars with no cats. I haven't checked into the law in Florida, but i'm willing to bet removing your cats is illegal, probably in all states.

According to the research I did my set up is legal..............so far. Might fall under noise violation but not exhaust violation.
Cats were not removed, all stock except the last 3 feet. Legal in Ontario.

That's because removing the cats is actually a violation of federal clean air laws ... and carries a fine somewhere in the range of $1200 to $2500 for each day a vehicle is operated out of compliance.

If your moving in 9months to a year why don't you just save 350 bucks and put the stock muffs on for a while?
But if you want to hear the borla axle-backs with an OR H....

The local yokels aren't the ones who can really hurt you. Emissions standards are federal laws. Let somebody really in the know, make a call and complain to the EPA, and they will come out and do the following:

1. Impound your car.
2. Fine you up to $10,000.00
3. Make you post a bond for 50% of your car's value.
4. Once you've posted bond they let you have your car back (after you paid the storage
fee) and give you ten days to bring it into compliance.
5. If you fail to meet the deadline, or it doesn't pass their inspection, they impound it
again and the whole process begins again.

If running without mufflers (which is illegal in all 50 states) or having an "obnoxiously" loud exhaust system makes you feel: 1. Grown up; 2. Like a real man; or 3. Gives you that erection you've always had a hard time getting, I would look for an alternative for boosting your testosterone levels.

If you want a race car, build a race car, but only drive it on a race track. I've hauled too many pimple-face kids and young adults off to the morgue who thought they knew how to handle the toys mom and dad bought for em. Like I said before: Some people have more money than brains.

Just my opinion.

I agree not having cats may be wrong, I still have them and won't take them off, but these guys may view things differently.

I want to build a race car, that's why I bought a mustang and not a mini-van.

If your saying that all us should have quiet, flaming, eco-friendly cars maybe you should buy us all Prius', or maybe get yourself one. I still don't understand why your so against everything that makes our cars muscle cars. I still have my cat's but my car is pretty loud. If my borla's are 48 state legal, I don't see a problem, everyone else can just get over it. Why do I have to watch people drive around in their 1984 POS that smokes out a 1/4 mile radius, Or why I have to be stuck behind a granny doing 30 in a 55.......I guess we all just have to live with things we don't like sometimes, right ?

Tell them to F*ck off it's a free country.....[sm=americanasmiley.gif] That's what I do....I don't care what people really think anymore....There's no law against having a loud exhaust especially since there LEGAL !!!!

could nothave said it better myself......IMHO i think you should tell your neighbor not to offer 800 but to pay for the whole switch out and since your such a nice guy he should throw something extra in so you can get something else cool for your pony, how dare he tell you what to with ANYTHING you own, if your not hurting people, or breaking the law, which you arent, then i guess he is SOL, last time i checked we live in america, home of the free and the brave, not the land of the few and home to the status quo

my 3 cents

and btw, if your concerned about your relatoinship with your neighbors, then do it, but i would make THEM pay for it, and kiss my a** from that day forward, persnally i think it is rude of your neighbors to even ask that, i would tell em to mind their own business. i find it plain rude......tell him you dont like his shorts one day and ask him to change, tell him they are hurting your eyes ask him to change, see how rediculous his request is now????

+1

Even if going catless is against the law I dont see many police actually bitching about it unless youre really being a dickwad to them which is a stupid thing to do in the first place. Also... not having mufflers is only about the noise violation.. you can have cars without mufflers that dont violate the noise violation.. hell.. tons of older vehicles on the roads have straight pipes, doesnt mean theyre illegal.. from what GTlust posted about the exhaust laws earlier it seems cats are the big thing.. and Ive even been told differently from what that site says. Im not sure but dont they have to give you a time period to fix your "non legal emissions" problem on your car before they can ticket you? And it doesnt even seem like they enforce that here in Florida because there are TONS of vehicles that are alot louder than my car could ever be.
