As far as laser avoidance goes, how about laser jammers? I've heard it said these are illegal, and I haven't done my homework, so I don't know. Anyon ehas any experiences with them?
Laser jammers are illegal in all 50 states. The laser units will detect the jamming and sound an alarm, so now you get pulled over for having a jammer, which will get confiscated, and possibly even your car. You'll also get a ticket which will be more than the speeding ticket you would have gotten. Ain't worth it.
I don't how Passport can claim that their laser jammer is legal??? I emailed Valentine and asked if I could use the Passport laser jammer with my V1, and they said I could, but in their experience jammers weren't reliable enough to spend $500 on top of the cost of any radar detector.

look guys, i'm going to drive the way i enjoy driving. period. i dont care if my gas mileage goes down or whatever. i will drive th eway i want to drive. i came to the forums to get some help with a detector, not a lecture i could have gotten from my mom. now please cite any HELPFULL and RELEVANT advice here. no more "slow down on the roadway, please your going to get a ticket or cause an accident because your a stupid teenager." its people like you that make us drive the way we drive. i was a good driver until i got sick of the stereotypes and i got blamed for bad driving when i was driving more responibly than others on the road. I want a radar detector, and as i stated in my very first post- i k0now that police have the radar pause lasers but most county cops around here dont. okay so, just help me out or stfu.

Yes there are several wireless ones available. I would look at Bel they are nice. My wife has the Whistler that someone linked to. Its pretty nice. It seems like the more you spend the less sensitive a unit is to false signals. She does get false signals religiuosly in a few local areas every time she drives by. Its a big unit to....bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Just play it smart. A radar detector combined with a sharp eye is difficult for cops to beat. The detector will save you many times even when Cops are using instant on or pulse radar. A good detector will pick them up shooting cars 1 or 2 miles ahead of you. Then you slow down to the speed limit until you pass the cop and away you go again. Also, dont lead the pack. Pretty simple solutions if you ask me.

Granted every situation is different due to traffic but I am sorry....if I am on a 4 - 5 hour trip and I am doing 15 mph faster than those doing the limit I will get there quite a bit faster....not just minutes. I agree that I will not be be 60 miles ahead either.

No offense, booster, but I didn't buy the Mustang to drive like I owned a Focus. If I'm on a back road with no traffic and want to goose it a little, I want to make sure my back is covered.

Have you ever purposely spun your tires? That's wreckless driving! Also if the front tire of your motorcycle leaves the road it's considered wreckless driving, wish I knew that when I got my first bike.

but i dont have $500 to blow on a radar... whats something good and affordable?

Obey the traffic laws. How much do you have to blow on tickets and higher insurance premiums? If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime. Cops have ways of defeating radar/lazer detectors.

What about Cobra Radars? they offer 12 bands for like $100

which seems kinda cheap... do they not work that well?
