Gas Mileage Better with 3.73 and Saleen SC!

RE: Gas Mileage Better with 3.73 and Saleen SC!
Two questions:
1. Re MPG --
I always understood that when you change total tire/wheel size (as opposed to increasing wheel size but reducing sidewall size so as to keep same total size), you must adjust your speedo to account for this. At least this was the case with my Bronco. How about when you change gears? Do you have to adjust the computerized speedo to account for the new gear ratio? If not, wouldn't the speedo/odometer (and therefore the computer's mileage and mpg calculations) be thrown off?
2. Re Faster Launch --
I have the standard gears in my '06 Saleen SC. As it is now, the car runs through 1st gear and hits the redline in about 2 seconds if you accelerate at full throttle. I guess this is par for the course when you're in this kind of performance territory, but I've never had a 400+hp car before so I think that's just scary fast. If you run 3.73 gears, I'm assuming you launch even faster and hit your redline even more quickly. Is that right? If so, does anyone find that having 3.73 gears is almost too much?

I figured the speedo was adjusted for the new gears, but I had to ask. Especially since not making the adjustment would be such a fundamental source of possible error that would account for increased mpg readings.
Anyone have an answer to my second question about how fast you run up to the redline in 1st gear with the 3.73 gears and 400+hp?
