I have to agree with you on the GT versus 4.0 test drive. I was not impressed with the GT. I bought a '07 w/Pony Package. I live outside of DFW and got a good deal with North Central Ford.

Check out this thread from my purchase. https://mustangforums.com/m_2118176/tm.htm

Be careful talking about V6 mustangs in the open '05-'07 area, some of the GT owners think the V6's are not Mustang's. I personally think they are trying to overcompensate for a shortcoming-

Go with your first driving impression, either way you are buying a MUSTANG.

Good Luck-
I test drove a 06 GT Automatic and wasnt impressed all that much, but the 06 GT w/ manual tranny is a whole diffrent animal to me. Also, I hear putting a tune + CAI makes the auto ( and manual ) a whole diffrent beast.

I have a V6 and I'm happy with it. It's a better feeling to build up your V6 when you have the money and be able to beat a V8. And having people say "Wow! That's a V6!?!?" is great! A lot of people here can tell you that too. The V8 I looked at was only $3000 more than my new V6 that I bought, but I thought why bother. If I could've afforded it, I wouldn't bother spending more money on a GT and just get a Shelby Cobra GT500 instead...like the guy up there said. It's all about personal preference though. It would be nice to have those 300+ horseies right now but once I get my turbo then I'll forget about it. Personally, I wanted the GT more for the front and rear fascia and fog lamps instead of the V8 motor

Also, the price you're looking at for that V6 is pretty much what I've seen that's decent. I paid $20,250 for mine...2005 V6 Premium 5-Speed Manual...leather interior, Shaker 500, rear spoiler, and interior accents upgrade.

Good luck and share pics when you get your new Pony
