SHAKER HOOD QUESTION

Stupid question perhaps, but does shaker hood do anything besides add cosmetic good looks to the car? Is there any kind of performance enhancement? I'm sure I could get the answer with some research, but this is the easy way.

It will get cold air into your intake but that is all. No noticible power gain.
