That trim piece is made from thin stamped aluminum. Although I haven't seen it in person yet, from what I've read, the Ford one is made from machined Billet aluminum.

I've got one that looks identical to that bezel. I like it for 19.95. Got mine from Laurel Mountain Mustang.
Only person who has commented on the California bezel says it's plastic??
Haven't seen one close up in person myself.
