Wonder if the dealer will recommend hood pins?

I had mine open (against the saftey catch)on me at 70 once. buttttt. I will admit to being asleep that morning when I put the nose bra on the hood lip, and I know I did not shut it using my usual drop method.

Other than that, it does shake a little, mostly if it is a very windy day. But I think with a little adjustment it will be better. It is nothing I am worried about. I have had the car up to above 140 as well and everything was peachy in my opinion. Very stable. Perfectly comparible to german stuff. Felt like she could do it all day. And that is on the mediocre stock BFG tires.

Hi...Nice pic. But how do you have a 23 mpg average while hauling along at 140? I can't get my mpg over 19.

See post by Jaime Hurtem (and many others).

This is a defect in some cars - some cars do not have the problem at all. I wish I had checked it when I test drove it but wasn't aware. You should not have to put hood pins on a new car with a stock hood. If so, Ford should pay for them.

jbailer - how do you adjust the catch?

With all the complaints about this, I have yet to hear from someone who took it to the dealer and it was fixed. It's kind of scary.
Unfortunately I can't look at mine at the moment but most catches have oblong (oval shaped) holes so that the catch can be adjusted up/down. I'm not talking about the fixed "U" shaped bar obviously. I'm not saying this is definitely the fix but without looking at it, that would be my recommendation. I had to do that with my last car for an aftermarket hood. -Joe

If anyone can describe what I should be looking for as far as the "catch" goes, and how to adjust it, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am having problems with the hood shaking at speeds above 80 mph. This weekend when I was driving on the interstate at about 85, the hood suddenly popped open. The safety latch caught, but it scared the s**t out of me and my wife. I have since adjusted the stops after reading about it here, but I have not had a chance to take it on the interstate to test it.

Take a look here in particular to the adjustment of the hood stoppers this can really make a difference.
