Exhaust Question
Okay, Im going to have my exhaust installed tommarow. I was planning on having him cut off the Y pipe and putting on a custom X pipe and 2 flowmasters. My dad was telling me that I should have the pipes seperate and come straight back from the engine and have 2 cats on each side and go straight to the muffler.(http://www.americanmuscle.com/slp-x-...tted-2005.html) Basically not having the 2 pipes mix or meet togerther. Can someone give me some information about this, im doing this for straight performance. Also, I have heard to get 3" pipes because it helps performance and I heard not to because it will take your HP away.
Thanks

RE: Exhaust Question
I'll give this a shot since knowone else answered.
Your dad has the right intention but this isn't the 60's andengine design and perforamnce has changed since then. The x pipe or h pipe really helps the flow. The link you provided shows it properly. The two tube meet then split off, are catted and exit. This setup allows the exhaust gasses to equalize before exiting the system. From what I've read, having pipes for each side with outthe addition of an x or h would only hinderour engines and somewhat choke the engine when it is trying to vent the exhaust gasses. I'm unsure if the 3" pipes would help either. The stock 2.5" is what our engines are designed for optumial pressure and exhaust flow.
Don't flame me for this, This is just what I've read.
Hope this helps some.
