Not so. If you buy the FRPP from an "authorized Ford Racing dealer" and have them install it before you have 1000 miles on the odometer, you absolutely still qualify for the full 3 year/36,000 mile factory warranty.
I have this in writing from Ford- do you think I was born yesterday?
No, I don't think you were born yesterday. I posted the warranty terms more for the benefit of others reading this who probably already own a Mustang with some mileage on it, since it's thrown around a lot on these forums that you'll automatically have the 3/36 with FRPP parts without any of the limitations being stated. If there's a 1000 mile loophole that's great, but people should still make sure their dealer does what yours did in order to make it all nice and official in the computer, and not just assume they're covered. And get it in writing, because what comes out of somebody's mouth at the dealer is mostly worthless BS.

I agree with you 100%.
In fact, people should get such things in writing for all important transactions- seeig as how it's not only car dealers who BS us...!

Hey GT Newbie!! (I haven't been in here in months!!!)

Anyway, I'm here to back up GT Newbie, I have the same exact package as his and I couldn't be happier!

Actually, before I got the FRPP pkg, I had the 5GT mufflers and the drone to me, was unbearable!!

I also tried an SCT tune, and believe it or not, I didn't like that either!!!

I stuck with the FRPP pkg, its documented, in writing, the warranty is there, and there's no BS if you go to the dealer. I don't like hassles, period.

T oeach his own, if Brenspeed, Diablo, SCT, et al is what you like, then go for it! For us, personally, we like the FRPP products ( and I also have this OCD, retarted thing that everything has to be from Ford!)

My car is mainly a cruiser, so I don't need the extra power, just a little wake up call to the engine!

Hey Jim- welcome back!
I suppose we're probably the only 2 guys on here who feel that way (about being satisfied with a safer for our car, fully warrantied, slightly less powerful though slightly more expensive FRPP upgrade).
But seeing as how I subscribe to the "live and let live" mentality, and really don't give a rat's **** what anyone else thinks about my choice and my reasons for making it, I'm one very happy camper with my FRPP, and know that you are too...!
Took her out for a spin today (26 degrees without the wind-chill factored in), and it felt like someone had secretly installed a freakin' supercharger overnight...!

I notice a big difference from my STOCK GT that had just a tune!

Well part of that difference is due to the 3:73 gears that come on the Bullitt; but the FRPP tune (exact same one that JimsGT and I both have) is actually pretty damned good- no matter what most folks on here are saying- despite the fact that almost none of them have ever actually tried it on their cars!
True story: I called a specialty tuner shop in Lakewood a few months ago (forget their name right at the moment- but when I remember it I'll edit this post) to ask what they would charge to replace my FRPP tune with a custom dyno tune and the SCT-2, and the guy said: "Why would you want to do that?" When I said that I'd heard the FRPP was pretty conservative, and that other guys with Brenspeed, B*MA & SCT tunes speak of "chirping 2nd & 3rd gear", the guy told me that it was actually very good, and that I'd get "maybe" about 5 or 6 h.p. more from a custom tune- tops!
He also said that the reason those other tunes make the autos chirp 2nd & 3rd is simply because, unlike the FRPP, those other tunes don't lessen the torque at all between the auto shifts- which might not be such a great idea in the long run if you get my drift...!
I appreciated his honesty (which really surprised me because he could have earned a nice fee on that $900 package!), and told him I might consider it down the road if I ever decide on some other mods (3:73 gears, UDP's, etc) which might make a custom dyno tune worthwhile.
For now, I have to say again that I'm absolutely delighted with the FRPP.

VMP advertises 6-10hp for their tune+intake tube upgrade package for Shelby GT owners, which sounds about right to me. Might not matter to some people, but might matter to others. Some folks also like the more aggressive throttle response, being able to run with 87 octane gas, and the xcal also is more flexible to tweak other things like gears or tire diameter. It all comes down to what you're looking for.

Got another question.

Is the filter element that comes with the FRPP CAK/tune a K&N sort of thing that requires periodic washing and re-oiling? I can't seem to find any hints either way anywhere.

Thanks in advance.
