My last car was a '05 GTO 6 speed. Got it new. It was a complete turd. Got a lemon lawyer and convinced GM to give me $5500 for it and keep the car. They said it wasn't a lemon. Was in the shop probably 45 days for different problems. I sold it to someone for $19.5k and told them all the problems (he'd already looked up its GM service history). He's had several more problems with it (steering rack went out, etc). I loved the engine and transmission. You can get a S197 faster than a stock GTO pretty easily, but that's just because of the terrible traction on GTO's (IRS and really small wheel wells). Its going to cost me a Whipple or KB to beat the low end of the LS2. Also, I still try to shift into 6th gear sometime, and I get worse gas mileage than in the GTO. Too bad we didn't get a 400 hp 5.4 in the Mustangs.
