ahhh.

i can't decide, 4.10's or 4.30's.

i want something that will feel obscenely torquey/powerful, press me back into the seat, pull hard in every gear, and i don't mind shifting a lot of bad gas mileage. im just worried that 1st/second won't be usable and it'll be like a track only car, and that my top speed will be like 110.
I've hit 120- 130 with pleantyof RPM and power to spare. I have no doubts thatit could hit 145+
Jesus Timmy you have gone a 120 to 130 in the car . Jesus, today I was hitting it hard and went it got to *** it was ready for flight. I myself like to stay underneath *** so I can keep my job. If you know what I mean. The car is ****ing monster torque fueled even at that speed. Again as someone said before here, "Its scary fast."

Also 05Classic I wasn't enthusiastic as I am now because I didn't realise they make highway driving fun too. Man I'm going to tell you this will certify you as no doubt a "Hot Rod". Your car will leap and jump tall building and as someone said before," the car actually likes running like this."[sm=badbadbad.gif][sm=badbadbad.gif][sm=badbadbad.gif][sm=badbadbad.gif][sm=badbadbad.gif] You'll see.

I took out my 4.10's and replaced them with 3.73's because of the amount of hwy driving I do. You still have good use of 1st & 2nd gear with the 4.10's, just be very careful when you take off on wet pavement. 5th gear w/4.10's is a blast you go from 60 to 120 in a couple of short seconds , on the other hand, although you get up to speed quicker you really can't maintain that speed 'cause your reving too high. I found the 3.73's to be a good comprimise, good low end torque, and 5th gear pulls much better than the stokers did. When the Ricer's approach you're already doing like 80 mph the 3.73's let you play better with these guys. Either way enjoy your choice, gears are a must have mod!!
So you went from 3.55 to 4.10 to 3.73? you could have gone with a larger tire in the rear.

Ouch! I have thought of this too Moosetang. If I ever went with a larger tire will I lose some power and gain more as far as ....? Explain will you?

I've topped out at around 155 with the 4.10's (El Mirage). Sucked when my friends Evo was still pulling hard. The gears make driving in traffic more fun.

What'd people pay for their 4.10's plus install? I normally do all the work myself, but this seems complicated.

I really never was interested in gears until I told my wife everyone here says I need some and she said I don't. Now I want them gears.

Are you for real? I thought the most top end for 4:10 gears would be like 135? I know one thing from my experiences is the ****ing things keeps acting ****ing torquey as hell at 3 digital speeds.

Moosestang if you increase tire size will you get more top speed? Not that I give a flying squirrel just curious.

MM&FF did an article showing a 10 horsepower derease when putting 20" wheels on a dyno test, then switching back to 17" wheels and getting that 10 hp back.

Alright Bluestar mine has totally stock tires and I haven't a clue how to use the easy chart someone had provided here before as far as gear ratios go so help me will you if you can.? What is really the top speed the car with 4;10 gears? I think the modifications for performance really get you up to speed but I feel they don't give you anymore top end performance. I'm not even pretending that I know what the hell I'm talking about but this is my gut feeling. Can you intervene? Are you a police officer?

Between 150 and 155 at 7 grand. That was with the stock polished 18's. I'll try and find the video of my speedo.

Anyone have opinions on 4.10 gearing for a V6 manual? Do I have to change my rear end too?And tune it?
But your rear end is already nice. Not sure what rpms you'll be at with the 6er. But I drove a 6 at work with 3.73 and you could tell the difference. The tuner would be mainly to correct the speedo.
Aww thanks Prime But you know what I meant. I'm thinking I'd need a new driveshaft eventually. I won't make the mistake of going to over 110 in my car until then anyways. From what I'm hearing here though, 3.73s sound more ideal for a V6. I do highway-traffic driving everyday, so this would be a good mod for me. And of course I want more power
