I think I am gonna bite the bullet and do this mod. Everyone for the most part is saying good things about it. Mysatng04 is doing it on Saturday, so I'll have abetter feeling after I drive his. Im sure it will be great. Will let you all know by this Sunday if I get a chance to drive it. SOYBADBOY, where in west LA are you?

Mine are going in May 1st. Can't wait!!! They should have already beeninstalled(yesterday) but Ford sent the wrong gearpackage to the installer. I was pissed but what can you do. I just told them to make sure they spend extra time on it when they do the install.

I'm glad you're happy with them Daniel, I've been watching your post's and waiting for your reaction. I was kind of worried after your first responce thou.

So what shop in the LA/South Bay areais recommended for the install?

Whatever shop it is, I hope they have done several S197's using the FRPP gears and know EXACTLY how to install them. Why the paranoia? Because I've read more threads on botched gear installs than ones praising them.

4.10s are the best thing you can do to your car for under 1k. If your not running these gears you are wrong[sm=icon_rock.gif]I do 90% hwy driving and I love em.

ahhh.

i can't decide, 4.10's or 4.30's.

i want something that will feel obscenely torquey/powerful, press me back into the seat, pull hard in every gear, and i don't mind shifting a lot of bad gas mileage. im just worried that 1st/second won't be usable and it'll be like a track only car, and that my top speed will be like 110.

How much difference did it make in gas mileage? Ive also read somewhere that 410s wears out your transmission faster..I wouldnt wanna do that to my 2 week old baby.

I've hit 120- 130 with pleantyof RPM and power to spare. I have no doubts thatit could hit 145+

I took out my 4.10's and replaced them with 3.73's because of the amount of hwy driving I do. You still have good use of 1st & 2nd gear with the 4.10's, just be very careful when you take off on wet pavement. 5th gear w/4.10's is a blast you go from 60 to 120 in a couple of short seconds , on the other hand, although you get up to speed quicker you really can't maintain that speed 'cause your reving too high. I found the 3.73's to be a good comprimise, good low end torque, and 5th gear pulls much better than the stokers did. When the Ricer's approach you're already doing like 80 mph the 3.73's let you play better with these guys. Either way enjoy your choice, gears are a must have mod!!
