Lol ouch screw that $hit! They better total it if the damage is that severe!!!!! Good god i wouldnt be able to imagine driving my car after they "repaired" that. Lol not only that but .... could you imagine how long that has to take to fix?!

I got in the same type of accident (hence the new bumper). First, are you positive the frame is bent? These cars are unibody , they dont have frames.
Also what did the insurance company say? all it cost for me was a new bumper and exhaust and out the door i went, everything was fine.
Only difference with my accident was it was a Mazda 3 that hit me, and they were doing around 60 with a 4-5 foot skid mark.
You certainly lucked out!!! The guy that hit me was going approx 35-40mph and never hit the brakes; pushed about 10ft (guess there). Total damagesended up over $9K with both frame rails bent. I dont know what the technical term is, maybe frame supports; when the car went up on the rack both sides were crinkled beyond the crinkle points (the areas that are designed to crinkle in a rear collison). Even the Ford body shop said it was not a job they particularly wanted to do.

So I have to say, you really got lucky at 60mph, even with skid marks! []

well i'm pretty sure the frame was bent, i looked under the car, and the metal "frame" looking thing is bent to hell. so i have to have frame damage...i mean all cars must have frames, right? what the hell is unibody?

i swear, i think i have frame damage...if someone could explain the diff between cars with frames and ours, i could figure out exactly what is bent.

Actually....read what MalibuJerry said...that's GREAT advice. If you were NOT at fault, and the other person's insurance believes that they might have a personal injury claim on top of the collision claim, they're going to bend over backwards to make you happy!!!! I wouldn't worry one more second about the car!

These cars don't really have a frame, they are a basically a bunch of pieces of metal, bent, molded, glued, and welded together to make up a body that's strong enough as a unit to bolt suspension pieces on. Look under your car, then look under a truck....trucks have a frame! If the structure pieces under the car are bent up, then you're probably correct that the frame-structure is bent. The problem is that they can cut these cars in half, and weld a half from another car to it to make up one good one.....HER insurance probably isn't going to worry about that with you!

Just to give you another data point,my insurance compamytotaled my car for this:

More pictures here: http://www.pbase.com/frodaddi/poorstanger

Of course that's not to say that a different insurance company or different adjuster wouldn't handle the claim differently, but that's what they did for me.

Yes I did - see sig which I just updated. It was my own stupid fault actually - I took it out to the local road course (Road Atlanta) in the rain and spun it out and hit the wall. I had been doing track days with it for a year or so but this was the first (and last) time on a wet track. Nobody got hurt though, that's the important thing, and thankfully my insurance covered it despite the incident happening at the track.

well i'm getting it looked at this weekend...hopefully they'll total it. one thing i have that you didn't is frame damage...but then again i didn't have all that side damage, all body damage is to the rear. and this being a unibody car, if the frame is damage, is it even fixable? anyone know?
