Default Just how much can the stock bottom end handle?

I'm looking for a supercharger for a daily driver, so need something reliable. KB says something about the stock engine being "safe" to about 450 RWHP. Many 500HP Whipple kits (seems like a very well designed kit) seem to be putting out about 450-470rwhp. I need info from forum members putting out around 450HP on STOCK engines and have some serious mileage using their S/C.

Whipple says their kit is fine on the stock engine, as does Procharger (similar HP #'s). If they are approaching the threshold of safe numbers, the Saleen 5psi kit is what I may have to settle for.

you can push the stock motor farther with a turbo setup than you can with a blower. The rods are handling more force to exert the same power with a blower than they are with a turbo. Turbo setups are generally more expensive though and it may not be worth it if you aren't a track junky.

This has been covered extensively already, and recently.

Seems to be 500Crank HP for Blowers and 550Crank HP for Turbo'd motors is the limit

Ive read through about 15 pages of posts, and there are posts from people such as yourself, with the Whipple HO kit, but not really mentioning driving conditions etc. How is your Whipple performing, and are you worrried about the stock engine? What are your driving conditions?

Like I said, I drive this car daily, probably putting about 20-25K miles a year.

I have a Vortech S/C and a SCT Excal2 tune. I'm running with 437 RWHP with no problems.
It's a street cruiser. I don't "spank" it all that much, but I have the HP when I need it.
I really dont think the bottom end cold handle daily a thrashing.
But it seems that a lot of high performance GT's are spinning a bearing tho.

Its 70% highway, which means its out of boost at least that amount of time....so would it really make that much of a difference?
I think I'll talk to Saleen..........Jared has been quite helpful with my wheel order.
I guess with my mileage, Ill stick with a low boost set-up.

Cheers!!
