Radar detecor
I disagree with that. Just the other day I was merging onto the freeway going through third when I got a Ka-band alert. I just let off around 80 slowed down and sure enough a copwent around 2 cars that werebehind me and went by. I'm always checking my mirrors, but sometimes cops can get sneaky and hide behind cars, but there is no hiding their radar unless they turn it off. I've been saved multiple times on highway 10 driving from Cali to Arizona when my radar would go off and a cop would be around a mile or 2 behind me and gaining quickly. I would slow down and move over. There is no way I would have been able to see him coming by checking my mirrors unless I was looking in my rear view mirror the whole time.

Radar detectors only really work if the cops really don't give a crap about you in the first place. Especially Highway Patrol are trained to determine your speed by their current steady speed. If you do get caught, you will be busted for your radar detector (if it's illegal in your state), jammer (if applicable), and speeding[8D]! I have quite a few cop friends, and I'm on the way to be one myself
.
Anyway yes, cops in FL don't care because as of yet, they are not illegal here (I live in FL, and I too am addicted to the gas pedal). By the way, the department in Palm Beach County actually has a black Mustang GT undercover car on the highway, so if you're around the area I'd watch yourself! I think you can look up online somwhere, where they are illegal and not, although you guys will probably use them anyway.
Besides, don't you check your side and rear-view mirrors? Keep an eye out, that's how they find you in the first place!

I have the bel RX 65 (bought it 2 yrs ago when i got my car) have not had any problems with it. Gives me about a mile to slow down, very few false readings, and was about $250... Its all relative to how much you want to spend. Have never heard a bad thing about V1 or Passport, however I'm happy with the Bel.

Legal in every state. Illegal in DC.
I used to be a huge Escort fan. I had the 8500, then I got the X50. I had the X50 sent back twice to be fixed because it read "service required". The third time my warrenty was up by a week and they wanted $70 just to look at it. I said screw it and bought a Valentine 1 a year ago. I put my buddies X50 in side by side, and the V1 performed better hands down. My Escort spent more time getting fixed than it did on my windshield. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a V1 now. It also comes with the kit needed to hardwire it, where Escort wants upwards of $50 for it. I also believe that Mike Valentinewas a big man atEscort before he went off and did his own thing.
i have to say hands down the best one i have used is the k40 calibre system. I was also lucky enough to have it given to me as a christmas gift this past year and it is invaluable. There is a reason its is the reccomended radar of all mercedes benz AMG line and the porshe 911 cab 4 series. it is hardwired internally and all you can see is 2 mini and i mean mini blue led lights that indicate that the troopers are in front or behind you. most importantly the system it self is bluetooth in other words all system components interact with one another without haveing to be connected to one another. Also you need to have as far as ai know a front license plate becasue the "eye" wich detects this is mounted within the bracket itself. if it helps anyone in making a decision i could post pics. peace
