GT or Shelby
I have to throw this in - sure it's a Shelby but show me another Shelby where you got so little difference in performanceforthe price differential?
This is marketing pure and simple. Ford knows that anything they stick the Shelby name on turns to gold. They also know that the S197 platform appeals very strongly to the boomer demographic that has the disposable income to pay the mark up. The reality is this is a CHEAP Shelby for the 40-50+ crowd that would otherwise never be able to afforda vintage GT350, etc. Great marketing, substandard prodcut in my opinion.

50 years and you might get twice what you paid for it, hardly a killing though.

If you plan to Modify the car, buy the GT. If you intend to keep it Stock, to make a killing twenty years from now....get the Shelby.

Exactly, stick the same money into oil company stocks and see what happens. I recommend Chevron.

Totally agree with your point. An extra $12K for 19 horsepower? Which you could get (and more) for under $1K on a GT.
But... a GT is still not a Shelby! Still does not have "The Name." Ford knows what they are doing. As does Shelby.
If you are going to keep the car 10 or 20 years in stock (or near stock) condition buy the Shelby. If you want to mod the hell out of the car and/or daily drive itfor 50-150k miles and then trade it in on something newer/faster/more economical/whatever, buy the GT.

you can order your shelby GT with a supercharger, wheels, headers, gauges etc. from shelbyand have evereything covered under the carswarranty because it was installed by shelby.

I didn't know that Dennis...
If it's the case then, a supercharged Shelby GT will be in GT500 territory, as far as price.
So we're back to square one[&:].
We'll all go with the 500 my guess is. I would.
