aw, thanks for the info, I will probably go the vinyl route as well in thespring, with the clear coat can you still take the stripes off if needed?
not very easily, it's considered semi-permanent.

do you park under trees alot? it could be tree sap, and it might never come off. Only way I have gotton tree sap off of paint was with a good buffer, or clay bar.

+1
Silver vinyl stripes are notorious for blotching with acid rain and tree sap [:@]
All the new stangs at the stealership with silver vinyl stripes that were
parked under trees have the same markings, and these are NEW 07s and 08s.
Yes, the idiots at the Ford stealership here have trees around the edge of their
blacktop parking lot and park new cars under them. YUCK.

Agood set of real painted and cleared stripes laid down with no edge on the stripes will cost 1800-2500 dollars. It involves taking off the bumpers and lots of wet sanding.
If you clearcoat vinyl you are nuts......

yeah, it does seem pretty stupid considering it's still vinyl I guess. I'd rather have paint anyway, but since it's apparently fairly limited to silver, I may switch to white or black. Oh and I don't park under trees, well not very close to them anyway, maybe twenty feet away.
