I am confused ReaperGT. First, why the screen name with GT when your planning on getting the secretary mustang? Secondly, I assume you are male, have you asked any of your friends this question? When I was 18, scratch that, this question is laughable.

I think you started this thread to stir the pot. The funny part besides getting involved in this thread, is the number of people defending the AT. I guess there will always be ten percenters out there. Maybe, besides the v6 auto, hey lets go all the way, a convertible too, you get yourself a nice fundamentalist christian girlfriend. She's bound to be as much fun as the mustang.

No way your 18. I'm thinking 65 and female. Anyway funny thread, have fun with your Gelding.

Uhm, yes I am 18 mustang madness. and to start a thread just to get people to argue is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. I made this thread to get peoples opinions on what trans I should get in my new mustang and how people like driving each one. My name is reaper gt because right now I have a grand am gt and I love the mustang gt 500. I dont see why this question is so laughable? Since you just joined I am wondering if you are just here to troll or maybe just having a bad day? Just cause your views are different than everyone else's doesnt mean that you're right.

[sm=bustedsign.gif] Hey, no offense intended. I personally have never met a guy interested in a v6 auto mustang. I made a bad assumption. My background is very bluecollar, so maybe I just haven't been exposed to a diverse enough group of people. That's why I thought the thread was a joke. My bad, I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever stang you decide on. Good luck. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I guess some people just like the feel of a 5" rod in their hand. Maybe you can caress it between shifts and nickname it your "Little Dickie"? [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

I say you should get what you want and not listen to the advise of a bunch of anonymous Internet people.

So if you want a manual - buy one. Even if you never had one it will be a good experience for you.

I have ownedmany manual tranny Mustangs.
I have an automatic in this Mustang and NO REGRETS, but I am mostly in to drag racing , which favors automatics.

+10000000000 on the AUTOMATIC.
Manual Shmanual, if you think driving a manual is all its worked up to be with theso called "coolness"of owning one thats just crazy. I would rather kick back in my car and punch the pedal and not have to worry about missing a shift or grinding the gears, or rolling back on a hill, burnt up clutches, etc,etc.....
When I want toshift gears I jump on this
+10000000001

To give you further info on the auto side of the argumnent...

This is an awesome automatic. It shifts great. And with a Brenspeed 93 tune (or probably BAMA, too, but I have Brenspeed), you can peel out in 1st, peel 2nd, and scratch 3rd.

Someone said that they can start off in 2nd in a manual in ice. You can also do that in an automatic, so that's not an argument.

But get what YOU want.

Does that tune require 93 octane from that point on?

I've had a manual drive for the past two years and hated it. The only thing I liked about it is that I know how to drive one now. I just ordered up an 08 v6 auto, I probably would have opted for the manual if I got a GT (purely for the performance factor) but that's something I can't afford right now. Have you ever driven a stick? if not, see if any of your friends or family who has a stick will let you drive it around to see if you like it. I don't give a damn what people think of me getting an auto, if it's a crime, then it's just as much of a crime to not own a GT.
It's a mustang, that's all that matters.

Manual!

Just make sure to practice in a large empty lot for a while first.

I saw some one who was obviously new to manual and started rolling down a hill just short of entering the highway during rush hour.

The first car that I actually owned was a manual and I now refuse anything but aside from the trucks I drive for work.

Heh, I bought my Mustang from a very large dealership and they had about 20 autos and 1 manual. This was the case at the other two dealerships I had visited beforehand as well. I guess I'm not sure who the 10%-ers are, but I was under the impression the auto outsells the manual cold. This is a performance oriented site, so of course you're going to find a larger percentage of people wanting a manual. After driving stick for 15-17 years, I can honestly say theres really nothing mythical or special about it. Its a preference, and thats it.
