Ok Im gonna go drive a stick today or tomorrow at the dealer to see how I like it. What is the easiest way to get the Mustang clutches to stick? Do you let the clutch out then when it catches press the gas or do you let out the clutch as you are pressing the gas? Or do you do something else? I think if i could make that drive, I can handle a manual, no?

I say you should get what you want and not listen to the advise of a bunch of anonymous Internet people.

So if you want a manual - buy one. Even if you never had one it will be a good experience for you.

I have ownedmany manual tranny Mustangs.
I have an automatic in this Mustang and NO REGRETS, but I am mostly in to drag racing , which favors automatics.

+10000000000 on the AUTOMATIC.
Manual Shmanual, if you think driving a manual is all its worked up to be with theso called "coolness"of owning one thats just crazy. I would rather kick back in my car and punch the pedal and not have to worry about missing a shift or grinding the gears, or rolling back on a hill, burnt up clutches, etc,etc.....
When I want toshift gears I jump on this

Manual all the way. Traffic just means you get the pleasure of shifting more.

The keywords in your post are I want to have fun with it = MANUAL
ORIGINAL: ReaperGT

Im starting to second guess it. I mainly ordered it because traffic is crazy out here in vegas but I have always wanted a manual. I told myself that if I could drive all the way across the country by myself like I did this summer, then I can no doubt handle driving a manual. I just dont want it to be something I regret down the road, since this car is going to be the most expensive thing that I have ever bought and I want to have fun with it. What would you guys do? Keep the auto or get a manual? Also, Im only 18 if that matters at all in my decision making process

I think after owning six manual Mustangs and countless other manual tranny hot rods, the prospect of clutching and shifting really doesn't seem all that appealing to me.
Even thoughthe manual tranny has some advantages and itoffers more control for road racing. I think the combination of a high horsepower twin screw blown motor and automatic tranny are ideal.
I can powershift a manual very well, but an automatic with a stall speed is a dream to launch and race at the dragstrip. It hits very hard off the line - I can even get air under my front left wheel at launch.
If you have neverowned a manual tranny, I can understand that it is fun to shift but when the horspower gets high, missing one of those shifts can be disasterous.

Yeah I am not going to be racing it, just having fun with it, so high horsepower and everything doesnt matter to me
