Tomorrow I am supposed to get the build date/ vin #. It has been 4 weeks since order. My dealer seems straight, he has done this 4 times before me. Thinks I will get it in May. I ordered the 23rd of Feb. All I want is a build date. then I will be happy...

I spoke with a dealership here in San Diego and they said that my car has been built and is sitting at some warehouse or something in Michigan behind 3000 other mustangs that are backed up waiting for the train due to the IUP holdup and subsequent longer shifts to bring out more mustangs. The car with my name on it does not have a 'bucked' date, which means it is on the train. There is a VIN and a build date though. Should be 4-5 days travel from the bucked date to some local (90mins. away) where they call to let me know the following day it will be on a trailer and headed to town. I am waiting for that bucked date and then can start the countdown.

GWfoos:

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that a bucked date is the date they start building the car. I received a build date and was told later that my car was bucked. I asked what bucked meant and was told that it meant that they started building my car.[] I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so!

I think that my salesperson might be a little slow then as I specifically asked if I could change the color, but she said that it had been built but awaiting the train out of town. I think another call to her today is in order.

I'll report back as to the terminology Californians use for build, train, etc. and see if I can translate it.

Be back soon.

I ordered mine on December 31, 2004, while I was home on leave from Iraq. I came home for good a couple of weeks ago, and my dealer says they are still waiting on a build date. He did call and ask if I was interested in a Saleen or Roush which they have on the lots. When I call the 800 number I still keep getting clean and unscheduled.

I just received word back from my salesperson regarding clarification of what is happening with the car. See below

Hi Greg, You are correct, my apologizies. I was mis-informed. Your car has already been built (bucked). I've called our regional contact for Ford and asked him to do a "trail" on your order because it's running so behind it's E.T.A.. He just returned my call. He says order #XXXX has been randomly pulled for quality controlled road test. Yours will arrive with a sticker on the window stating the extra 12-18 miles are from a road test. He says between
that & the delay at the train on all incoming units explains delay. He asked me to let you know that he will personally let me know when it's been physically placed on rail car & heading my way.

Either I'm lucky, or I'm living right.

I ordered 2/4, pulled for production 2/24, VIN# issued 3/18 when a production date of 3/24 was given to me by my dealer.

Dealer just called to tell me my Mustang is sitting in PDI in this service dept. WOW.....built at the factory yesterday in Detroit, delivered to the dealer one day later in Cincinnati.

Off to the dealer...pics to follow.....

I am glad your getting your car so soon, but I am getting pissed. I was originally told that the IUP was holding my order up. I see you are getting it as well, and will have it soon. Again congratulations, now I am going to go call the sales manager, and put a foot up his butt.

While not a GT, my 05 took 11 weeks to be delivered from time of order. I got it last Friday. V6 Premium coupe, five speed, interior upgrade. Mineral gray. It is pretty quick and good on gas. I added a K&N and it sure helped the sound.
