Our Tungsten 07 GT stickered at 29,095. Auto, IUP, GT Appearance Group, leather, Sirius, etc. At the time, they were really pushing the $1,000 back and 0% financing. Took the test drive, came back and wifey asks if we can negotiate. We finally get them down to $24,500 - but they never suspected that we'd pay cash for the car and no payments. We agreed on the price, and they still expected us to finance the car. The wife pulled out the checkbook and the look on the eyes of the salesman and sales manager was utter shock. The sales manager went further and pissed off the wife by telling her she didn't know how to manage her money because it wasn't smart to not take the 0% financing. You don't do this to my wife, the daughter of a successful surgeon - who does know a thing or two about managing our money.

We walked off getting the brand new car for what we feel was a good price.

We also left seeing the sales manager chewing out the salesman, which I felt a bit bad for the salesman - he was a decent guy to us. Sales Managers are generally the bad guy in these types of things.

What does being the daughter of a successfull surgeon have to do with it? It would have made more sence to me if she were the daughter of a school janitor. Now they have to know how to manage money. Less to go around.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would the they be upset if you paid cash when it was 0% financing anyway. If anything, I'd think they would be happy because they didn't have to do the $1,000 back that was part of the incentive package.

They would still give the cash back buyer incentive money. Some like to bait and switch the 0% financing saying that you don't qualify and that way they make money on the financing bone that the finance company gives them.

My brother has a blue 2007 350z, with a fujita CAI and a borla exhaust. It is VERY comparable in terms of speed to a Mustang gt. Believe me i race him all the time. I got him low end, but he mashes me on the higher at speeds over 75 mph. The 350z is actually a extremely quick car...not to mention its handling capability is FAR superior to a Mustang.

Why does it make a difference? Those rich folks know how to squeeze the most out of their money - as much if not more than poor folks. They also figure out ways to pay as little tax as they can. I'm just saying the sales manager insulted her acting as though she didn't know what she was doing. I agree about the $1,000 rebate - I think they were expecting to get that back if we went financing at 0%.

In my experience being a formerly broke person, eating cookies and potaote chips that I found at the dump while collectling pop cans to buy real food, poor people have a real need to know how to stretch their money. Rich folks are more liberal because they have more.

The smart thing would have been to take the 0% interest and keep that chunk of money in something earning intrest for yourself rather than the dealer.

Thats what I was thinking. Take the 1000 rebate and invest 25,000. So long as you got the 0% finance.
Still not understanding why the dealer was upset. You said that they were offering 0% and 1000 cash back so I would think that they would be pretty happy to get all the money upfront...
