'08 Mustang CAN NOT be tuned!?!?
You guys have to realize OEMs are constantly refining and tweaking the software on their cars. There are a few subitle yet significant changes made that can affect upgrades.
1) Did you know Ford revised the heads (and valve covers) on some 07 and all 07+ Mustang GTs? They've revised the Valve covers from 14 bolt to 10 bolt AND have given the spark plugs a revised FULL THREAD design vs the half shaft design that had the carbon buildup and breaking issues. neither the new valve covers or new spark plug design is compatible with the "older" head casting.
2) 08 PCM systems are more sensitive in their calibrations so an 07 calibration may not work on an 08. Probably the X2 issue you were having.
Build date and actual eyeball comparison is the only way to tell things apart.
There are a couple other ones but I can't think of them right now.

I think your OBD 2 port is messed up. Try taking it to an auto zone (dealerships will take the whole day to connect a scanner to it) and ask for for OBD 2 code reader. To have a code pop up drive with no fuel cap for a few miles. Connect the scanner and see if it's gonna be able to read the code. If not, take it in.
P.S. there's no way this ECU/ECM is not reprogrammable. Don't worry.

I had an issue with a diablosport tuner on my 07 SGT.Had to do with the FRPP tune and the Cal ID not being recognized.I think the only 08 GT with the dual spark technology is the Bullitt.Still haven't tried to call Brenspeed on a tuner for the car.
