Default Oil Light Is Staying On

Okay here is one for you all.
05 V6 16000 miles

Ever so often my oil warning light stays lit for 10-30 seconds after I start the car.
Not just in cold weather, not just when engine is cold, etc.

Car runs fine.
I have an autometer oil pressure guage and it is showing everything is perfect even when the light is on.

Any ideas?
Just a stupid light?

How did you install your aftermarket guage?
You may have dislodged/incorrectly installedyour stock sending unit.

don't trust the light.

Pull out the dipstick to check the oil level.

well that light is an oil pressure warning light.

When was the gauge installed?
When did the light start coming on?

How was it installed/who installed it?

I agree with doode, maybe the stock sending unit was damaged during install of
after market gauge.

What does the idiot gauge read on your instrument cluster (If equipped)

My 08 GT does this too. Occasionally when I start my car it gives me an oil pressure low warning then the gauge goes back up and the warning goes away. It is very annoying, but I am hoping adding a little oil will fix it as it is a little lower than it should be.

If wasnt for the gauge I would think you have a faulty oil filter. I have had this issue when using non-Motorcraft filters that can drain in the past. Focus Zetec was bad about it.

Did ya use teflon tape on the OEM sender by any chance?
Sometimes one wire sensors get their ground from the
threads used to mount them. It all depends who and how
installed your aftermarket guage. Cant fully answer without
at least a pic of the OEM aftermarket oil pressure"tree" takeoff
or more detailed info.
