Couple hundred in tools and a big garage helps cut down on those costs. I've only done a few mods, but I've done them so there is no labor. Gears will be different, I'd screw that up.
I agree, I've done all my mods myself too saved a bunch of cash, with all the step by steps on the forums makes it really easy. If it wasn't for forums like this I would have spent thousands on getting this stuff installed.

yeah, my mod installation cost would have been much higher but I had a guy here in houston do all my stuff when these cars first came out. he gave me all mods at his cost and labor half off cause mine was the first S197 he had worked on...Ghinnea pig car i guess

either way, for the labor costs he charged me, i couldnt justify crawling under the car and doing itmyself...on the intake and stuff obviously i did myself but time consuming and precision mods, he did.

Pretty much the same here too. I pay for all my mods with cash and install everything that I can without having to depend on ashop.. Now mind you the cams and custom tune will have to go to a shop cause I just don't have a place to do all that nor the computer equipment to do a custom tune.

Has anybody else ever done this?

I always wanted a S/C but never thought I could afford one. Instead, I have managed to add (including tires/rims and installation costs) $8400 in aftermarkets...

I could have saved my money and spent much less and had what i wanted...instead, i have a N/A S197 with all the bolt-ons (that cost more than a S/C) and I'm still slower than that F/I'd stang that spent less than I did.

Dont get my wrong, I love my car...just have these random thoughts every once in a while

FYI: newest additionto sig is Tokico D-spec's, BMR LCA's, CamberPlates...
But you would still have to do most of these mods with a supercharger. You would still upgrade the wheels and tires, the shifter, suspension, etc... You would also probably need to upgrade brakes with a supercharger - if you go faster, then you will need to stop faster.

The supercharger will only increase the "snowball effect" with additional mods for the additional power.

its the fact that when purchasing a blower you have to pay the 4-6g's up front. Unlike my bolt ons i pay for them slowly every month. Im almost at 5 g's on mods. My next car will have a s/c on it from the factory (gt500 vapor w/silver stripes).

yeah, realizing that is one of the only things that puts my mind at ease...maybe go with an NX kit for that extra 100 horsey's...although, when i add up all the extras i would need for that,it is around $1500
