Default RE: TPMS / TUBE TRICK

I've heard where installing a new sensor worked fine w/o the need to do anything and other times when even the existing sensors needed to be "calibrated" when the wheels were removed for balancing and rotation. Most shops can do it from what I've heard. Iwatched the guy at the Ford dealership that mounted my new wheels and he had to place a tool (a large magnet from what he told me) at each wheel after some combination of ignition key turns that sets up the TPMS for calibration. It took him about 1 minute.

yes the tube trick will work, they will go into sleep mode after not sensing motion for a while and not trigger a tpms fault because the pressure was all right when they went into sleep mode, i read somewhere that you have to be going like 20mph to wake up the sensors,
the ford dvd confirms that they don't activate until 20mph
