Default Mechanical water Temp help

I am at my wits end trying to figgure out where to install my mechanical water temperature probe. I have a Roush SuperCharger. The only place I can think of is the coolant fill. I don't know what adapter to install. I have been all over town trying to find one. one place told me to use the red adapter that came with the kit. the fit is sloppy but he said the o ring in the bottom of the colant fill should seal it. Has anyone done this?

Why would you go mechanical... I would not want to bring water into the passenger compartment

Technically, you don't....if memory serves, the tube is filled with a gas that expands and contracts with the temperature, moving the needle

your right no H2O comming into car. Capilary tube transfers heat to gauge...gauge gives you temperature. it's a Ford Racing Gauge made by Auto meter the part number is 24027. looks like the coolant fill takes a 3/8" flare.

I have done some research on this for my Roush. There is a company which makes adapters for Water Temp and Oil Pressure. Don't know the name right now but you should be able to find them with a net search. Water Temp adapter is a unit which is spliced into the upper radiator hose and has fitting which accepts sensor. This way sensor installation is as close to engine as possible for the most accurate reading on temp. Oil Pressure adapter is a unit which installed between engine and oil filter with up to (4) machined fittings for various sensors.

Good Luck

Well I did the obvious. Called Auto Meter. They told me there is a spot on the drivers side block just in front of the last freeze plug. Gauge is installed, problem solved.
