If you are talking about the Rubbing Compound in the black squeeze bottle I love that stuff. It works great and barely cuts more than polishing compound. Don't be afraid to use it.

Meguiars #6, best darn stuff out there. Professional grade cleaner/wax. A little difficult to find but well worth the search I've been using it for17 years.

You rub too hard on those scratches and you will get spider webs. Sometimes it's best just to leave alone. You paint rock chips and they become poky dots like I have. Either way it's up to you.

Well, guess what? The kit is made by 3M. It's called "Professional chip & scratch repair kit"
And as I said....it works great. Just be careful with the drill rpms. Always feel the area
with your hand to make sure it doesn't get too hot.

How much was the 3M kit from Walmart?
$20.00.

I can't seem to find the kit and I've been to a couple Walmarts. Anybody?

just get a lil tub of rubbing compound - idk how the squeeze stuff is, but turtle wax makes it in a lil tub...it's clay red color...just rub on your paint with a soft rag (like for detailing)...works good...you'll be set 4sho

Yeah I can always just get the Black bottle of 3M rubbing compound but having the kit would make it easier as we all get rock chips onour bumpers(I know I have at least one) and it'd be nice to already have everything to fix them.

I used that stuff on paint, back in the day. It worked good when I followed instructions: rub untill your target area is shiny and near dry. For very small areas, such as I think you have, I used a finger to rub with; it's amazing what fine distinctions you can make in determining you're not covering more area than required, and the state of the process.

I'd claybar the heck out of it, first, to make certain the defect isn't subject to change by the least destructive process possible. Then I'd use polishing compound before resorting to rubbing compound, for the same reason. You may eventually arrive at 1000-grit sandpaper, but starting weak means you don't have as much to recover from when the strongest necessary process is discovered.

I'll bet the http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/index.php forums have some good advice on this. I know they've done rock chips.

I just used the 3m rubbing compound yesterday by hand on a few light blemishes/scratches, and I couldn't be happier with the way it came out.
