Don't you have GAP Warranty?
I think I do, but my understanding is that they only pay what your insurance doesn't pay toward the loan. So if your car is totaled and you owe $28k on it and they give you $24k you are still in the clear.

I called my insurance company first, because I wanted them to put me in a rental car ASAP. I also went that route last time, and it was much easier than negotiating with the other insurance company. I believe if my insurance company doesn't give me what I want, I have the option of filing the claim with the other insurance company. It seems to me like I have a pretty good case for the full value of a new car replacement, so that is what I will push for. There is no reason for me to "settle" for a coupe, unless I want to. I'll make sure the insurance company knows that it is completely unreasonable to get a 2007/2008 GT convertible for anywhere near MSRP at this time of year, too. Every place I've looked is marked up at least $3-4k over MSRP.

It is terrible luck on my part, I was in a situation before I stopped at the light where I could of run the yellow/red light but went ahead and stopped. I figured it would be fun launching my car hard as **** on the straight road for a change, since it has been raining for like a week straight here in Virginia.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they opted to repair rather than total it. My GF wrecked her Sunfire a couple years back, it was only a year old and the damage was somewhere between 7-8k. Insurance repaired it. Now keep in mind this car was only 12k brand new.

If you didn't have Gap insurance you might be better off financially if they don't total it. Depends on what you owe and what they will pay out on the "value" they think it is worth.

Good Luck and thankfully you came out with no major inhuries.

I hope it is total, but I don't think so. My car got a rear end like that. It costs almost 10,000 to repair. They did not total it.

i feel your pain buddy.. i just got this torch red after my black one was totaled.. i parked my car in the road so i could get away from the neighbormowin grass.. next thing i know this drunk idiot rammed my rear end and sandwiched my car between his and a truck.. the frame was slightly crumpled on the driver side but gieco totaled it anyways! to top it off they paid me 23k for the car and i only had to pay 21 through the bank for the whole car..

dont worry man things will work out and now u get your 2nd chance at a mustang.. u might even like the next one even more

Don't be surprised if they don't total it.

My Gt coupe 07, 3 months old got rear ended, and had 17,000 dollars of damage and they still fixed it.

My recommendation, is to goto an orthopedic doctor, get X-rays and MRI's through the insurance, I too took a 40-45 mph rear end from a dead stop and have all kinds of lower back problems now for the past 7 months, with no sign of hope in the future. The car is a car, worry about your health first and then deal with the car drama.

^^^ +1, take care of you first. Then make sure that your ins. company does not try and run over you because you are young. That ride is totalled IMO.

Definitely follow Dorsil's advice on the dr's. Hope it all works out for you.
