I had a coupe and wanted another vert but didn't have the room for both, so I sold the coupe and bought the vert. Haven't looked back!

Get a 2009 with a glass roof.

i have a coupe. i thought about a vert but felt a coupe was more aggressive and meaner looking. i wanted side window lovers and felt coupe was more my style. plus you could have a problem with leaking that some on this forum have, it seems to be a big problem. but def +1 on glass roof option.

I have a vert and love it but the coupe is more the driver's car. It is stiffer and thus handles better than the vert (though you can add stuff to tighten up the vert a bit), the vert is heavier, and as already noted, a vert will not be allowed on a track without a roll bar.

My advice:Take an extended test drive of a convertible with the top down, i.e., rent one for a day or more. Once your driven one for a day you'll have your answer...

My wife and I rented a Mustang convertible in Maui for a long weekend and a coupe in San Diego for another long weekend.

We chose the convertible. It's my first and I love it.

The stock vert actually outhandles the stock coupe due to different spring rates and dampening. The vert has subframe connectors and extra bracing under the fuel tank area so it weighs a little more.
I dont know how a vert will look with all that silly body kit stuff you are planning but the S197 vert is the best Mustang vert they have ever made. Nothing like doing 160 MPH with the top down!

I just bought an 08vert so its clear where I stand . Although I plan on storing my stang Nov - March so can't comment on its durability during winter months.

I'm actually surprised so many folks drive their verts when its cold out. Now, granted, i've only had mine for four days so I don't want rain on it, let alone snow. How durable is the top in the icier months?

Our 07 GT is my firstvert, and we're having a blast with it. I wouldn't say it's quiet with the top up, butheating in winter (Columbus, OH) is pretty much the same as any other type of car.

...compared to a hardtop? no. compared to other verts? for sure.

I'm not positive it's true but our salesman told us that they made significant improvements to the top starting with 2007.

I have been very pleasantly surprised by how quiet the convertible is with the top up. The only time I can tell it's a convertible is whena large commercial truckis beside me under heavy acceleration up a hill or using thier jake brake. The top is very nicely insulated against noise.
