Vert or Coupe ?!?!
Most of the differences cited here are not an issue...
1. Coupe is stiffer - well, maybe, maybe not, and with the huge underbrace, the vert handles as well as the coupe to within any tolerance you could ever detect
2. Coupe will be quicker, it weighs less - Again, maybe, maybe not. And again, it's not quicker to within any measurable amount you would notice while driving
3. Couple looks better - Again, depends on taste. I like the two tone nature of the vert roof, and vert lines. So, pick what you want
4. Can't drive vert all year - Sure, put the top up, it's a coupe. It's nice out, put the top down. Coupe can't pull that trick off.
I live in Pa. as well, and have the roof down all the time. It's amazing how cool it can be out and you can still use the vert. Just turn up the heat and blast it out the top vents. Bingo. I can go verting in 50 degree weather.

It all depends on what you like....no matter coupe or vert, they're all Mustangs and I love em all. Don't try that type of line when your girlfriend cathes you out on the town with some other girl though......it never works out.

Actually,a stock GT vert is faster then a stock GT coupe. yes it weighs more, however, the extra weight from added structure support is right where it needs to be. Over the rear wheels. The GT vert is 2 tenths faster in the qtr. (Automatic) And as they say, "you can look up"!
BTW. Get the vert!

(Yes, you can mod anything to make it superior to the factory prep).

This goes back to my point of the coupe being more of a driver's car. If "maybe, maybe not" is an OK performance differentiator for you, then there is no difference. Pick the one that you think is nicer looking, or the one that will fit your surfboards on the roof, or whichever one you like better. But if you are more picky about handling and performance, then you will want to "side-by-side" the two cars and make your decision. I bought the vert because I wanted the vert. But my vert is NOT as stiff as the coupes that I have driven. Don't believe me? Test drive each one and go find some railroad tracks to cross. For as long as they have made unibody convertibles, designers have used underbody bracing to try to make up for the loss of ahuge upper brace; the roof. Not a big deal for me.....the mustangs really aren't great "handling" cars by today's standards (zipping up the flame suit now). I suppose if you really wanted a well-balanced nurburgring tuned suspension, you are not going to be shopping for a mustang anyway (putting on the extra flame protection). Bottom line, either one is great at what it is; a great bang for the buck American Muscle icon. This is true no matter which one you get.
