CAI and Tune 2005 V6 questions
ok so i just bought a bbk cold air intake system and a used unlocked diablo sport predator tuner for my car. I dont fully understand how the tuner works because im used to working on my 68 mustang, with absolutely no computer system in it. So if someone could explain to me how my tuner will work please let me know what i have to do to get better performance and gas mileage out of my 2005 v6. I mean i know i where to plug it in and everything im just lost from where to go from there and were to get the tunes/codes.

I dont know too much about the diablo tuner because I use SCT, but let see when you plug in the tuner does it give you any options to change some permitters? And you can change stuff from there. But I think your best bet is to contact some companies that use diablo and get them to write you a tune for your car. You will get the most out of that. I dont know any company off the top of my head that use Diablo but i know there are some, and I can find out for you.

Unless you fully understand what you're doing by changing the various parameters, you need to contact Bama or who ever supports the Diablo (Bama is top notch) and have them write you a tune or 3, thenhave them explain how to download them from your PC into the tuner and then into the PCM.

RE: CAI and Tune 2005 V6 questions
I have the same exact setup in a v6 07 . BBK cold air induction and Diablosport Tuner.
its pretty easy install the CAI , basically plug your tuner computer port and it should load right up , it will basically ask you to pick a tune, save your stock tune , ask you if you want to modify the selected tune, and finally load the tune.
modifying the selected tune just lets you adjust things that the tune to your preference like turning off the speed limiter on the Mustang which none of the tunes in the Predator does automatically.
during the whole process it will ask you to turn on and off your ignition a bunch of times but never start the engine.
its all pretty simple and yeah you get better gas mileage, more hp and more torque but I would go with the 93 octane tunes for best results without a custom tune.

Get in touch with Doug at BamaChips. I have a 08 V6 with BBK CAI, Diablo Predator and 3 Bama tunes. You WILL need to BUY a data cable and a power cable (no power cable needed if you have a laptop). Ask Doug questions and he will tell you exactally what his tunes do. Heresone of his email replies:

RE: CAI and Tune 2005 V6 questions
you can get away running an 87 perf tune using 91 octane fuel but you cant get away with running a 91 perf tune using 87 octane. enjoy your stang, use 91 tune with 91 gas. all gas is expensive no matter how you look at it. might as well enjoy what you got. good luck.
BTW, uploading a tune to your stang with a diablo is a VERY SIMPLE step-by-step process. follow the instructions on the screen exactly and you will be just fine and running strong!
