Throttle body Cleaning

Throttle body Cleaning
I was just away for sometime and when i got back i noticed that my throttle response wasn't what it used to be. Also when i pressed in on the clutch to come to a stop my RPMs were dropping down to around 500 and the car seemed like is was about to die.
Tried diff tunes and it was all the same.
So i sent an email over to Dave from brenspeend and he brought to my attention that our S197s have a closed PCV system that causes oil build up on and behind the throttle body blades. And as you can imagine this "sludge" dosen't allow the TB to funtion properly.
His advice was to take it apart and give it a good clean.
So i did and so far it's as good as new.
For those that never took their TB off it's really no big deal. All you need is:
-8mm wrench
-10mm socket wrench with at least 3 inch ext
-flathead screwdriver
Desconnect you MAF sesor plug (PIC1)
Desconnect the PCV inlet hose and both plugs connect to the TB itself, one on each side. (PIC2 even though i failed to capture the plug on the right side)
Now your ready to disconnect the inlet pipe from the TB.
To remove the TB itself you'll need those 8mm and 10mm wrenches. 8mm up top indicated in red in PIC3 and 10mm under indicated in blue and it comes right off.
Careful with the orange "O" ring (PIC4). It seems a bit fragile and make sure it's sitting right when you reinstall.
PIC5 in a shot of the TB clean on the right side and still dirty in the left. This only 12k miles.
Hope it helps and solves Throttle response problems and maybe even sticking problems.
Please correct anything you catch is wrong. Its my first atempt at a "how to" post so there it is.

Excellent. Thanks for the post and the pics. Very helpful. I've nevere taken mine apart and was considering simply spraying it down without disassembly but it appears pretty much a no-brainer to dismantle. Cool...

Nice job on the write up and pics!
This is a little off topic, but does anybody know if those are the same four bolts that hold the factory "Powered by Ford" Plenum cover in place? I was thinking about ordering one and that seems to be the most logical place for it to bolt on.

Yeah i might've passed the cloth on it a few times b4 i remembered to take that pic. Sorry
To clean it i used some WD 40 but make sure you wipe it off really well. And dont use a whole lot either. Just a lil sneeze of it was enough for me.
The point is to clean the oil not add to the mess but it does help loosen that stuff up.
