Can you explain what are mid mufflers for and why they would cut noise?

man, the french suck :P loud exhaust FTW!!!!

mid-mufflers (which are kinda like a tubular muffler that goes before the axle instead of after) and stock axlebacks might actually work; good thinking cutter

Are mid-mufflers same as resonators? As far as I could read they make the sound more "low"...
Do you think that if I filled them with iron filling that would help? This is just for a few miles to pass the inspection...after that I remove everything and go back to non stock pipes obviously

mid-mufflers are kinda like glasspacks; i don't know what their internals look like, though. if you fill the mufflers with something, it will most likely work too, but it sounds difficult to me; of course, i don't know how to weld, so... :P
