I had the same thing happen to me last January, noises, cd error on screen, etc. Fooled around with it for over an hour and finally disconnected the battery, let it sit for an hour, reconnected the battery and the two cd's I had in popped right out after hitting the eject button. No problems since then. '06 GT with Shaker 500.

disconnect negative battery cable for a few minutes and it should be fine.
Worked for me.

maybe I disconnected it too briefly? I did it for only a minute. I'll disconnect it today while I detail the engine bay, hopefully works. I don't care if it works or not, I just don't want it to drain the battery...

Negatory on the battery disconnect.
It causes more problems than it solves.
The battery clamps are delicate items
and then there is the adaptive relearning procedure....

I would be pulling stereo fuses as indicated in the Owners Manual.

First question for the OP...
CDs or CDRs?
CDRs delaminate in the heat of the cars interior on hot sunny days.
Its all downhill from there.
So much for illegal music/downloaded recorded CDRs.

If you find your head unit is FUBAR and are looking to replace it with an OEM unit, lmk. I am likely going to be going to an after-market head unit soon and will be selling my stock head unit (I also have the shaker 1000 system in my 06'). It works great. Cycles disks and plays MP3 disks flawlessly.

Also, just as a side note, were you playing a CD that you burned yourself? I had this problem with my 6 disc player in my Rodeo and I also noticed in the owners manual for the stang that it says not to use CD's you burn at the house and especially CD's you have made and then added a decorative label to. They are a different thickness than a regular store bought pre-recorded CD and that can cause them to jam. In my Rodeo I finally figured out that if I wanted to eject a CD that I had made myself I needed to wait for an hour or so after playing the CD before tryinig to eject it. This let the CD cool down and contract a little making it far less likely to jam. I don't know if that will work on the Mustang head unit, it's just a thought.

I disconnect my neg battery cable frequently. I never had an issues with the terminals or adaptive learning since buying the car in Jan 06.
This fixed the wacked out CD-player for me. Mine did it on a factory recorded CD, not a CD-R.
